THE STORY SO FAR...

Accent Media was founded in August of 2003, when CEO and Creative Director Charles "Chip" Atkins decided to break out on his own after working for others in the video production field. Surrounded by 650 square feet of office space, he slowly started on his way. Armed with one camera, a lighting kit, one editing station, and a laptop, Chip began to grow his business. Using the resources he had available, he converted the office closet into a sound booth for voiceovers and solo recordings.

Being the new kid on the block in business, and not long in the area from his native New York state, Chip faced many challenges; but also found many opportunities for clients searching for the quality production value he was able to provide. Being his own boss and his only employee for the first year, there was no such thing as "office hours." Chip often found himself working all night and some weekends to keep ahead.

A client sought him out in 2004, looking for someone to produce and post-edit his outdoor TV show. After some discussion, Chip and the client formed a partnership. Chip provided editing and production services, while the partner sought out other clients for the joint venture. After two years, both partners wanted to return to their single passions and pursuits, and Chip bought back his business in its entirety. His partner returned to filming and producing his outdoor show. During the partnership, the production studio grew to add two full-time and two part-time employees, as well as three additional editing stations.

In late 2006, Chip added another employee, long time friend and businessman Scott Fullerton. This new addition to the team brought even more change and growth to Accent Media. Scott took over the business management of the company, overseeing new business and scheduling projects, along with marketing efforts and office management responsibilities.

Scott’s assistance allowed Chip to focus on his role as Creative Director, making sure that no production left the office without being the superior quality that Accent Media has become known for. Chip was also able to ensure that the office was growing with and beyond the community by purchasing a High-Definition-capable camera. The new camera offers one of the best picture qualities in the area, as well as a dolly with tracks for more professional-looking motion videography. Chip has his mind set on making Accent Media fully able to compete with or surpass any production company in northeast Ohio.

Four years to the month after founding Accent Media, Chip is now ready to take the company to the next level. In August of 2007, the company left its 650 square feet of office space in Howland Township to take up residence in the heart of downtown Youngstown. Accent Media is now located at 20 Federal Place West, in the old Phar-Mor Building, bringing new life into the long vacant production facilities on the 7th floor.

With initial lease space of over 2500 square feet, and the first option on 2,000 more, Accent Media now has expanded office space. Our new facility includes, for the first time, our own in-house shooting room with a green screen and psych wall. There is also an upgraded and expanded sound room, capable of recording up to a four-person band or group comfortably.

The entire company is excited for all of the possibilities the new facility brings, and looks forward to growing bigger and better. We will continue to provide top-quality production services to businesses, groups and individuals in the area's of Mahoning, Trumbull, Mercer and Lawrence counties, and the long roads beyond.
